Introduction & History
Bhutan Devi is one of the most powerful goddesses and part of Goddess Durga. The Holy Bhutan Devi Temples is situated in Hetauda. It is the capital city of Bagmati Province of Nepal. The temple is located in the heart of the town and it is one of the major attractions and also sacred places for Locals and tourists. According to locals Bhutan Devi is the sister of “Hidimba”. They also believe that in According Mahabharata Pandavas were here in their time of Agyatbas. Where Bheem married Hidimba. From them the Ghatochak was born who plays major role in battle of Mahabharat. One interesting thing is that the name of this city Hetauda is derived from demons Hidimba.
Architecture and Structure
The temple has a unique design and crafts that reflects traditional Nepali Design. There is the belief that the temple is 100 years old but from time to time renovation has taken place. Many other small temples have been built around the Main temple like Radha Krishna temple, Lord Shiva temple, Ganesh Mandir, Sitala Mata temple, Hanuman Temple, and many more.
Religious Significance
The Bhutandevi Temple is an important religious center for Daily Devotees. During Dashain or Navratri, a huge crowd comes to visit the temple to get a blessing from Goddess Bhutandevi. It is believed that during Navratri days goddess stays for several days for her devotee’s children. At Navratri times a great fair also takes place near the temple.
Visitor Information
Bhutandevi Temple is located Near the Main Bus Park or Bus Terminal, approximately 600mtr. Marriage ceremonies and other religious rituals can be done here. For that, you have to contact Temple Trust. There are a lot of Hotels and lodges near the temple. There is a police bit at the main entrance of the temple so if you have any security issues you can contact them immediately. Public toilets are also near the temple
